Artist Bio

The Burrs are a husband and wife fine artist duo. Born in Texas and California, they now reside in Central Florida. They draw their deepest inspiration from the places, peoples and cultures they’ve lived among and spent treasured time with across Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East. All of this has shaped their definition of home and provides an endless source to their creative vision. The heart behind each original work is to share that sense of home through a sacred moment of beauty, peace, possibility, heritage and simplicity. They are collaborative in their work, painting each piece together using a unique approach of taking turns painting layer by layer on a shared canvas; sharing two perspectives of one story until they feel the piece is complete. During a painting course they took together in Brussels, where their collaborative journey began, their instructor remarked that if their two individual skill sets could be put together they would make the perfect artist. They focus on landscape, portraiture and still life acrylic paintings on both canvas and wood panel. The Burrs current work is made in their home studio. They sell their works to interior designers, at art festivals and galleries, and in retail venues along the East Coast.

Wife & Mother
Fine Art Painter

With a background in fine art and design, Ashly is a multi-disciplinary artist that works primarily as an abstract impressionist painter.  With over 15 years of artistic experience, she focuses on exploring the relationship between dreams and reality, mixing the boundaries until they disappear altogether, and a completely new world is created.  Her collaborative work with her husband Samuel dances along the line of softness and structure, quiet and wild, today and yesteryear.  Her distinctive, intentional brushstrokes tell a story piece by piece, that she hopes when paired with Samuel’s imaginative and free brushwork, emanates a sense of peace and spiritual connection.   Becoming first a wife, and most recently a mother has expanded her heart and birthed a desire to explore these concepts in entirely new ways.  Although Ashly was born in Texas, she has been honored to call Belgium, Morocco, England and China home.

Husband & Father
Fine Art Painter

Working primarily as a contemporary painter, Samuel is a native Californian with a background in choreography and landscape design. His love for movement and color has informed his multi-disciplinary artwork for the past 13 years as he plays with hard and soft lines within repetitive forms. Working quickly with washes and decisive mark making have become the foundation of his abstracted impressionist works. Drawing on emotive memory and a desire to refine and clarify a form and a message, he lays out his life story on canvas. Often referencing life lessons observed from living abroad in Brazil, Morocco, Belgium and England. Now working collaboratively with his wife Ashly, the boldness and undefined enthusiasm of his brushstrokes are finding their stride within the boundary lines of her calm and deliberate style. As a new father, Samuel hopes to explore the multi generational power of creativity to usher in reflection, renewal and rebirth.
